Smart Travel by Using Apps on Smart Phone

As many people own their smart phone, it can use as a useful tool for traveling. I would like introduce some apps for planning trip in Hong Kong.

Hong Kong have developed some local apps for rendering support for tourist. Obtaining supports from government organisation, apps can be developed in a user-friendly mode. For examples, some are introducing tourist attraction, forecasting weather and providing advice on transportation.

1. Discover Hong Kong 720°

Developed by Hong Kong tourism development council, main feature of this app is offering virtual trip in key tourist attractions, such as The Peak, Hong Kong Disney, Ocean Park, Stanley. No matter video and picture, all are extremely nice and attractive. Tourist can experience the tour on virtual first. Apart from these, it also can locate tourist location by GPS, so to avoid getting lost astray.

It is a great app which can lead tourist to those tourist spots by themselves. It can be regard as a tourism guide for tourist finding where to go.

You can select suitable route with reference to your interest, physical fitness and experience to enjoy hiking in the countryside of Hong Kong.

3. Hong Kong International Airport

Provide real time flight information including arrival and departure. It facilitates tourists for checking their flight time.

Supported by HK government, it provide transport advice including mass transit railway, bus, minibus, cable car, ferry, cross boundary bus. We can do route search and get enough information for estimating journey time.

For example, I would like to know which vehicle I should take in order to go Ocean Park.

This apps has given me 17 choice to choose. I can filter those choice in priority of time, transfer or fare.

It might be useful for tourist who would like to call taxi and van for their transportation. Telephone number of taxi driver provided and record also kept for further reference.

6.Hong Kong Observatory 

As an official app produced by Hong Kong Observatory, it shows and forecasts the local weather of Hong Kong in a week. It also offers the push notification to update you the latest information including tide, typhoon and pollution index as well. The most amazing is that it can give the local specific weather according to where you are right now. Therefore, I will recommend using it to plan the itinerary. Even if you do not want to read those text version, they also provide you the weather video via YouTube.

This is most popular search engine which reviews given by local people. Its mobile version have offered discount coupon, ranking amongst restaurants, various review and photo. Most importantly, you can search nearby restaurants by location service. It is a very useful App for foodie seeking delicious food.
